40-65: Learning what I can

RE: 40-65: Learning what I can
Chris, couldn't agree more on the enjoyment. I appreciate everyone who has added to my understanding and especially Kurt who I have a feeling is owed more than one favor!

Wish I had the command of some machinist's skills - in my next life I want to be one of those who own a lathe and know how to operate it.

Great news, for me anyway. The Marlin 1895 (made in 1898) arrived today. Slug shows groove of .408 and bore of.4015. I'm sure I'll be shooting different bullets but glad to see it close to the liner in the Ballard and I have a couple molds that may work for the time being.

That is indeed good news

John you owe me no favors, I'm glad to help. The things you and I went over you will find better ways. It's just my way.

Thought I ought to close the door on this thread, sort of anyway. I'm sure I'll want to post results once I see how it shoots.

Got my diagrams into Dave Manson. He gave the thumbs up and should have a reamer back before John Taylor works through his back log.

Got two molds drawn and sent to Tom at Accurate since then too. They came in yesterday and I'll be anxious to cast some up for the Marlin 1895 in 40-65. The other is for the Ballard Pacific in 40-63. Not one of the high BC varieties but close to a bore rider that did well in that rifle this summer.

Of course if you never hear from me again you can figure I have my tail between my legs and really did outsmart myself with this reamer:-)

You won't get off that easy John. I'll be posting your picture and making jokes at your expense! Merry Christmas. Steve
