RE: New blocks
Thanks Dan! Will he build any bullet mold upon request? I have a 50 bullet I like but have had some issues with mold! I would like to send him the bullet and see what he could do! That's a good looking 44 bullet Don has I wouldnt mind having it in a .432 o.d.

RE: New blocks
I e-mailed tom@accuratemolds.com about a bullet mould. His current max. rifle-bullet length is 1.375".

RE: New blocks
These blocks are aluminum. They were a bit finicky about heating up and fillng out, but once we got there I cast 75 bullets without a single reject.
The alloy is some wheelweight.
Hopefully I'll get to run a few down range in the next week or so.

Don.

I have a few questions about the bullet and mould.
What is the meplat diameter? and how long is the bullet?
That being a aluminum mould are the guide pin holes fit with a hard bushing or is the mating hole just dimpled?
Is there any sign of the guide pin holes starting to show signs of enlargement from closing the blocks slightly off alignment?

RE: New blocks
Kurt the meplat is .18 Bullet is 1.35. It's weighing right at 482grs.
The guide pins are an intersesting set up. they are a pin with that "tit" on them that are present in the picture. The opposing side of the blocks have a pin with the end milled to accept that "tit" No sign of any slop in the thing yet, the way those pins are tapered and mated I'ld think it'ld take a lot of wear to misalign them.
These things feel much more substantial than any other aluminum mould I've got ahold of.
He'll also make the blocks in iron or brass, they just cost more. He'll also make a set of block with different bullets in the same block. A fella could concievably drop bullets for three rifles from the same block at a time.

RE: New blocks
That 1.350 should be a very good length for th 1/19 twist with that ogive it has.
I set my adjustable mould at 1.356.
That .433 prolate I have is 1.460 long and so is the elliptical from KAL and they both get squirly past 600 but they should work very good in the 1/17 twist I'm building.
If Ricks mould blocks had the pin placement where I could turn the blocks down and have a meplat like yours it would be the same length.
If that bullet does not work in the 77 let me know. I can push it a little faster in my 90..

RE: New blocks
It showed some promise the other day. I have another batch loaded and ready to try sometime in the next couple of days.
Would sure like to find a patched load this rifle will shoot as good as it does the greasers.
I'll try and get you some of these cast up and bring to Forsyth.

Steve,
There is limit to what he can do for length and size of meplat. Look up his site at Accurate Molds and check out his program. He will work with you and you may find a catalog item that you like or can be modified to suit. Delivery time is incredible.
