I think it was Kirkland out of Washington. If you go to the NRA competitions page, find the National records tab, and the enter Black powder, then blackpowder target rifle, then you'll get another drop down that gives all the bptr disciplines. Interesting stuff there.

That 500 yard record is super great , when you consider all 10 shots fell in a 10 inch circle, with 6 of those in a 5 in circle.

I checked the weather its going to stay chilly through the weekend . I thought I would make a small batch of Kurts suggested 50 /50 WW and pure lead and Dons 9 to 1 WW and lead. Maybe a few 16 to 1 for reference. My 200 yd target is great for catching bullets in the snow. Just move the target 2ft to the left and repeat with a different bullet . I know this stuff has been covered many time over ..I like to tinker .lol How long many days do the bullets need to set before they are close to what they end up being.? I have a small excavation Co. Winter is fixin time, it's a nice break from replacing the undercarriage on the 25ton dozer and line boring excavator pins and bushings.

Well don't worry about the going thru all this , no matter how many times someone else has went thru the same process. These pumpkin clunkers are just like their smart alec offsprings, just because something works well in someone else's rifle doesn't mean it'll work worth a flip in yours.

Good morning folks .
Decided to tinker with bullet hardness , see if I can get the 530 PJ out the barrel with the rifling not touching the nose .This is 20 to 1 pushed by 72grs swiss 11/2
So I made three batches
16 to 1
50/50 WW and pure lead
9 lbs WW to 1 lbs pure lead .
I'm going to move the target over and flag each mix and see what kinda slump I get with the same 72 gr load . Everyone one likes pics right .Lol
My neighbor is a foreman for city power he brings me 4 and 6 inch lead conduit 3 ft sections they change out .

See the reducers at both ends they are dead soft but are very slivery . Anyone know it there mixed with more tin for leading them together ? Here's one that was inside the conduit that I cut up with the log splitter .
I put a just little of the reducers in the mix it seems to help fill out the bullets . Any Electricians in the house . Lol

All the bullets with different mixes came out great . But were 5 grs heaver than the 20 to 1 . With only .3 weight difference with them all . Not including the wipe you nose bullet or something the broke the rythem.

SPG smells and works great when it's chilly out . I Have to get some DGL for summer shooting

Thanks Don , I'm placing a order at powder Inc. I've read the Olde E sticky thread.
I have 10 lbs of swiss 11/2
A few cans of 2f express and 3 lbs 3 f express . Thought the 3 f might work good for my 450 Brooks chicken bullet.
What Olde E should I order 1.5 f or 2f or both for the bullets I'm shooting in the 45-70? Thanks again!!

Snocat, my 45-70's get along well with either OE, so I would be hesitant to recommend either. 2f will produce a bit more velocity than the 1 1/2, but the accuracy difference is null.
I can tell you that 70 gr of your 2f express also works very well in the 45-70, and 65 gr. or the 3f isn't anything to sneeze at.
