Just found you guys
Great site! Big bench slug and RB guns are close to my heart. I am still quite new to the sport but have been gaining as much info and practicing when I can. I have spoken with the very knowledgeable Mr. Wasserman, who I see posting here, and learned a great deal. My toys are
RL Morris
.45 RB, aperture sights
.62 RB, aperture sights
.485 slug (650 g 2 part slug), Mitchell scope
Breisen
.69 slug based on a Resor (tooling)(1750g 2 part slug), Mitchell scope
32-40 ballard breach or false muzzle seat, scoped but I change it up(unertl/balvar)
Pierce
.45 slug, (450 g 2 part slug) 1860's gun, slug design reworked slug by Lester Cox, it did quite well at Camp Perry by Mr. Cox in the 1960's at 600 yards, scope or original aperture sight
Other precision RB
.50 Sinclair custom, built by Fred Sinclair, aperture sight, modern inline, custom?, Jewell trigger etc
.45 P. Davidson, offhand schutezen style, aperture
.50 Herman, bench schutzen/?, aperture

The Davidson
![[Image: PDavidson1995010.jpg]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j5/plastikosmd/PDavidson1995010.jpg)
The Sinclair (a bit off topic but a crazy accurate rifle and the rifle that got me looking into precision BP shooting, I owe this rifle a lot)
![[Image: IMG_8978.jpg]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j5/plastikosmd/IMG_8978.jpg)
Hey a RL Morris pistol
![[Image: d1e9eb8a.jpg]](http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j5/plastikosmd/d1e9eb8a.jpg)
A closer look at the flinter, remember this is a take down rifle and note the inletting of the action, the action pops out, stock and barrel detach

RE: Just found you guys
Good to see you here, Plastico. I've seen some of your posts over at ALR. There's not been much of a venue for discussing these big funny guns. My herd is limited to my George Berry .54 RB rifle
http://historicshooting.com/mybb/thread-89-page-14.html
and the big .54 Bowers-Rayl chunk gun.
http://underhammers.blogspot.com/2011/03...unkin.html
Out yonder here in the Upper Left Corner there's not much of this sort of fun to be found. That may not change in what time remains to me, but I'm having some good times providing for some head shaking amazement at my club's range.
While the huge slug guns have an imense gee-whiz factor, what can be done with good ol' round balls can sure get some attention. I'd be particularly interested in hearing about your RB gun experience. Loads, lubes, patches, and loading/wiping regimen. I'm pretty much flying blind and alone out here.

RE: Just found you guys
Thx, it seems WSU was dwindling and now it is gone? It is nice to see some familiar names here. I would love to meet all that have helped me up to this point at a shoot in Cody or at Friendship but it is not in the cards to get out there. I would live to see something in the northeast someday. I love these old big guns and everyone I show them to is amazed and fascinated by them. I don't want to see this sport disappear so I preach it on every site I visit.
I will happily post what I have learned over the last couple of years. In all honesty what I have learned is mostly from those that have gone and shot these before.
I LOVE that 54 of yours!
