Sorry Bob I replied to your question but beats me where it went. Sometimes I press the save as draft by mistake.
I will be using 2.4 and 2.6 brass cut down because I have so much of the 2.6 I use for the .44-100.

I should have worded my question a little differently.
What is the case length that your reamer will cut?
The reason I am asking is because in the 7th edition of COW.,there is a note about the length being 2 1/2" instead of 2 1/4".

The .44-75 Ballard chambers ran from 2-1/4 to 2.5" from what I have found. But there where not many .44-75's made. Reading some write ups in Forrest&Stream they gave very good accuracy.

Well Bob you might just as well have this one also I been shooting this one for a short time now and it is one fine accurate rifle.

The .44's have stuck with me through the years. I guess maybe I found out at a early age when I got my first center fire rifle, a .43 Spanish Roller from the back pages of the NRA Magazine because I could afford getting it for less than $20.

I have these saved,printed & backed up.
My 1st. .44(.44-90 Rem St.) came to be because of a temperamental .40-70 SS. This 1 is a female I'm sure.
Don't get me wrong,the 40-70 is a fantastic cart.,it's just the combination of this 1 that is less than ideal.
The .44 on the 2.4" case has worked out extremely well.If only I could shoot it as good as it shoots.

Well there they are, my .44's

Left to right .44-77, .44-2-5/8's BN (.44-90 bn) .44-100 Rem ST. and the new addition the .44-75 Ballard.
I was able to make one sizing die for the Ballard but not the second one because the pilot bore was tapered to much that my smallest pilot the .437 would only go in 1.224". It tapered from .438" so I sent it back because I did not have a proper chucking reamer of the correct size..

Don I boxed the die up with some sized brass and it's on the way to WY. It should be in your mailbox by next Monday or Tuesday.
The brass plunks right into the .44-100 chamber so now all that is left is getting the rifle done and making a second die.

Oregon Barrel Co. is making it. It will be a 32" tapered round 1/16 ROT.
