RE: 1911 .45acp
I think the 1911 is one of the finest pistols made. I had a .38 gold cup I sold at a weaker moment to a guy that really thought he wanted it. It had a 3 digit serial number and it shot well, but I did not like the chamber they have so I'm not a collector so it went down the road. and replace it with a .38 sp. 52 Master S&W. The Smith shoots better anyway.
I also have a .45 gold cup that is a tack driver for the 50 yard bulls eye. For the .22 portion of the bulls eye portion I used the 41 S&W and the The Victor.
But the 1911 is one fine piece you can drag through the mud and it will still function. And it is a stopper.
Recently at the range a guy pulled out a short barreled black gun and started shooting. One of the empty cases bounced off my rifle and I felt like giving him a horizontal butstroke for shooting that close to me and spraying me with hot brass till I looked at the case and it was a .45 ACP coming out of that AR. I had to get up and asked him if I could look at that rifle and politely asking him to shoot on my right side where there was a open bench.
He let me shoot 5 rounds and I must say that was a fine shooting with that space age red dot sight he had on it.
