RE: Light bullets in 45/70
My experience with Accurate Molds Aluminum blocks is limited to just one mold. I think to say that my experience is very satisfied would be an UNDERSTATEMENT. Now keep in mind that no mater who cuts a mold, or what that mold is cut from no one will make a mold that will drop a bullet that is exactly what you specify. There are just too many variables. Now with that all being said, the mold that I got is as close to what I asked for as I feel is possible. It drops bullets within .001" of what I wanted. I also know that I can vary the bullet diameter a little by changing the alloy and casting temp some. I am very very happy with the mold that Tom made for me. To add to that a little, I took a standard listed mold and had him make some small changes to his design. I places my order over the internet on the Wednesday before the 4th of July. My mold was delivered the following Monday. He is locates in Salt Lake City and i am in PA. A turn around like that is just almost hard to be-leave in this day and age. The only small fault that I have found in his mold is that the alignment pins are just a hair snug and when closing the molds I have to give them a little extra squeeze to make sure they are closed tight.
I do have molds from several of the major manufacturers, Lyman, RCBS, NEI and Sagebrush. The sagebrush mold I have not used yet but from looking at and at the sample bullets that came with it (I got it used) I have no doubts that it is an excellent quality mold. I would recommend Accurate molds to anyone and I would purchase another one from him without hesitation.
I have also heard that his brass molds are excellent also but I have never used his or anyone else's brass mold so I can't form an opinion from my own experience but I would feel that they are also of very high quality.
