Gary I have the Melitta brand brown filter paper. It is coarser in texture than the white and measures.005

Might have to try some of those brown filters.
Where did you buy yours?
Have you done a burn test on a section of one to see how much crud is let behind?

I used the Melitta brand Brown filter paper. It's embossed with small dimples and ripples so it will measure 0.005” if the wide portion of a vernier caliper is used. Using the thin portion of the blade and measuring between the dimples the paper is 0.002 to 0.003” thick. The white stuff I have is 0.002” thick and is not embossed.

Due to Lumpy’s question I just burned up identical pieces of both. The white paper left almost nothing behind. The brown Melitta filter left more, but in contrast to the white it punches out cleanly with my hole punch, which is not the case with the white stuff. So I’m sticking with the Melitta brown.
