Shot the 44
Went up to the Ridgway Silhouette match todayand took the 44 along to show a friend of mine. Well by the time I got there the match was over and everyone had left. I had brought 10 rounds along in case my friend wanted to fire it. Now I am not any great off hand shot, didn't have any sight settings and didn't have the best choice of insert in the front. So with the 10 rounds I managed to dump 2 chickes at 200m. Took a guess on the sight and wasn't off too much. I think that the rounds were loaded with CTG but not posative. I did blow through the barrel twice when it got hard to chamber a round. Recoil wasn't bad, I was a little worried about that due to the weight of the barrel. Offhand it holds very nicely, I just like the way it balances a little better than my heavier rifles.
Now to get to a regular range and put it on paper. I think it will be very interesting to see what I can get it to do. I do have rounds loaded up with the same volume of Elephant Fg, Goex CTG and Swill 1 1/2. That should make for an interesting range session.
One thing I did notice, I uses a white coffee filter under the powder and it seemed that my primer pockets were a lot cleaner than my other ctg's where I have not used an under powder wad. Anyone else have this experience?
