Additionally, what I am trying to find out if anyone that has shot lots (like Kurt does) has noticed any correlation as to whether denser powder shoots faster/slower etc. It takes looking at a large sampling, such as the folks who shoot a couple cases of powder a year to notice. Of course it would have to be in the same brand because of potentially different manufacturing techniques.

I have noticed a difference in the densities between Swiss and Goex, but I have not shot enough/been involved in the sport enough to have experienced a large enough sampling.

I guess the best way to do this would be with a weight scale and a chronograph and 1 rifle, the same lot of primers, batch of bullets, etc. The problem is acquiring samples of differents lots. A person would have to start with a clean barrel for each shot, because accuracy is not a concern, just whether or not there is any correlation in performance to powder density.

I have some left over 45-100 loads that I could chronograph but a 2 lot sample would not provide a big enough picture to draw any conclusions from.
