Eric, Thanks for your information; that was exactly what I was looking for.

I have been looking at the 1847 Walker, as I handled 1 in a Cabela's store a few weeks ago w/ the objective of a revolver w/ more horsepower. You're right that they are heavy and they appear well made, but your mention of the Whitneyville got me thinking again.

I currently have a Ruger old Army, and an 1860 Army replica; both shoot very well and are really fun to shoot. The 1860 Army is superb out on the trapline; the heads aren't blown up by some of the current pit run .22 ammo, and the pelts are perfect w/ 2 eyeholes, 2 earholes, and 2 bullet holes.
