Don, yes I did eventually go to wiping between shots ..but coming from a 'blow tube only' background, it took some convincing. It certainly improved the issue but it didn't solve it completely. The Snover seems a good design overall but suffers from too little or two few grease grooves. Were the same basic design set forward to take up perhaps .3-.35" of case capacity and carried some grease grooves into the lands, I'm of the feeling that the leading issue may be resolved and at the same time improve longer distance performance. At least one of the BACo money bullet-reduced bands designs pretty much delivers this so it would be my next point of call. Seems to be that 400-410 grns is the upper limit for me at least in the 1/16". The 420's work..but similar to some of the issues I've experienced with the 44.. once the distances open up and the winds start to play a role, the results become irratic ( and not just because of my shooting either ). Reducing 'drag' on the nose/ogive seems to affect long term potential..or at least thats been my experience to date. Running 72-74 grns x Swiss 2f with the Sage bullet and its performing pretty well to date but there's more to be done. My last shoot with my sons rifle was a disaster for me...but I'm fairly positive all the fault rests with me. Just wasn't in the zone that weekend at all.
