RE: boat tail bullet
I tried the patch several different ways when using Bullet lube and B-wax as well as soy wax but that always stayed with the bullets or pushed the patch into the hollow base or glued the patch to the flat based boat tailed bullets. That also damaged the base. accuracy was never any good using wax or nothing under the bullet.
One day Carol was making some rolls and I picked up some flour and put it under the bullet and shot a few in the snow and that bullet in the photo above and the rest all looked like that with no damage to the base, flat or hollow.
With the bullet shown the patch was just below the rebate. The accuracy was good using this bullet solid or hollow pointed nosed as well as flat or hollow rebated. But the effort making this bullet was not worth it. It did not shoot any better then the regular flat or cup based bullets. I think the rebated boat tail is not as effective at the subsonic velocity's as they are at sonic.
