International competition rules at the time required military style single trigger, as well as a rifle weight limitation. The 1877 model allowed the use of a heavier barrel with its reduced weight action. The single trigger on the Shiloh 1877 models is set at 3#, as I was informed by Shiloh Rifle Mfg.
