Since you cant get OE I will give you the Swiss 1.5 filling the case completely and secreting it off flush.
The .44-100-2.6 case as fired in my chamber which is very tight and will only except a PP bullet it will hold 102 gr of 1.5 swiss.
The .44-77 unsized will hold 90 gr of 1.5 Swiss flush with the case mouth.
When I breach seat the .44-100 st. I use 100 gr of Swiss 1.5 for the accuracy load the last time I used this powder in this rifle using a 507 gr 1.465" long bullet and I use this in a 1/17 ROT.
The .44-77 has a 1/19 ROT and I use 72 Gr of 2F OE for the accuracy load and I use a PP bullet of the original profile 1.350" long and it weighs 485 gr. and also the same profile original 500 gr 1.410" long with 76 gr or 2F and it will reach 1585 yards.
In the .44-100-2-5/8 Sharps BN 19 ROT my load is 94 gr of 2F OE and a 507 gr 1.465" long elliptical bullet breach seated with the same bullet I use 105 gr or 2F OE with just a .060" cork wad, no lube. the case will hold 107 gr of 1.5 swiss flush with the case mouth.
I have .44's with the 1/19, 1/17 and 1/16 ROT. If I was to make another .44-77 I would use a 1/17 ROT with a standard light 32" barrel. This caliber will reach as far as what your sights will let it shoot sights on center of target. Very good Caliber.
