I been mulling on getting another lever rifle. I'm leaning towards a 73 in the .44-40 or a 76 in the .45-60.
Yesterday I went to the local gun shop to see what they had or the intend of ordering one and on the wall they had two 1893 Marlins, one in the .40-60 and a .38-55 what really what I been looking for for several years but these are not the quality I want. The .40 had a pretty dark bore but a hint of rifling left that might still grip a bullet and the wood had a couple cracks, but it was not a $800. dollar rifle.
The .38-55 had shine but rough spots in the bore but the outside metal still had some case left but it was not a $1000. rifle. This rifle for a 1893 was a little unusual chambered for a .38-55 with a 1888 type action with the top eject instead of the side square bolt of the 93's but I made an offer and told him to call if he wants to sell it.
