RE: Forgot
Kurt, In my older 1873 Uberto SRC, I have an issue with the elevator sometimes not dropping down as it should, thus requiring a rap on top of the receiver with my hand. Not consistent, but irritating when it occurs. Haven’t found a gunsmith that is knowledable with 1873’s that can address this yet. I suspect it has to do with the two springs and I intend to replace them. This didn’t start until after many hundreds of rounds.
As for the more recent 1873 Uberti rifle anf the Uberti 1876 rifle, no issues. Except, of course, when I didn’t pay close attention to COAL when reloading. It seems that I don’t always learn after the first mistake...
The 1876 in 45-60 has a crescent butt, not as comfortable to shoot as a flat butt in my opinion. Also have a Miroku Winchester lightweight 1886 in 45-70 with shotgun butt that is a joy to shoot.
