Randy I'm using a gc bullet because that's the mould I have on hand. It was a good bullet in the Ruger that I had converted to 44 special, but the rounds that I still had left loaded for that gun won't cycle at all, but they do single feed very easily.
You might look at a short rifle in 44-40, I really like mine.
I keep bugging Winchester about bringing one out in 38-40 but so far haven't had any luck.

Don I drove to a gun shop 60 miles from home because I know that he has a very large selections of old rifles and shot guns and I handled severL ORIGINAL 76's 73's 86's 92's 94's and square bolt marlins. And one I put mu finger prints all over it was a very nice bright bore 92 in the .38-40. It was a short tube octagon long barrel. It was very nice with no barb wire fence scratches and no pits any where.
But I let him put it back several times.
He also has a couple .25-20's.
