Don I favor the Old Marlins but this winchester was a little over priced at $3700. for what it had for blemishes on the bluing, barrel and receiver but no scratches on the metal and a mint bore. He has a 1893 Marlin in the .38-55 1/2 round long barrel with a mint bore and the metal has been refinished with case the best I have seen for a spell and checkered wood. I might go back Saturday and get serious with him on that rifle. It will make a fine shooter but it has a black powder barrel stamp on it instead the special steel stamp. But this makes no difference with me because that is all it would get loaded with anyway.
