Went into the third inning today with the CPA .44-100 St.
Yesterday Ion the second inning I loaded a ladder load of 1.5 Swiss from a no compression 93 gr load to 100 grains 5 rounds each and the best I could get was 3-3/4" group, so that was a lost inning.
Today I loaded 15 rounds using the 83 gr of 2F OE and the Brooks 500 gr with the sharps profile and shot a 5 round group with the second shot going over the right field fence from fat fingering the trigger.
Those 4 shots went into a 1" exactly horizontal group @ 200 yards.
I shot the next 10 rounds with a sight change that still worked pout well.
For some reason this rifle/caliber does not care for the Swiss for some reason, with this bullet anyway, but if it wants to cut a 4 shot 1" group at 200 I won't scold it.
A lot of shooters will thumb their nose with that almost round nosed bullet but I have a elevation adjustment screw on my sight and if I need it I will adjust.
I have two rifles with this chamber and both have shown me some good results. One is a 25# that I just cant get warmed up to and it's also a fine shooter.
It must be the .44 calibers..........
