RE: 38-55 conundrum
Don,
I’ve been having good luck with the re lined high wall. 200 yd. 5 shot groups are approaching 2”. I’m using Accurate mold 38-305L with 50 grains.OE 1 1/2, .035 poly wad, Starline case, Win. LR primer. I’m seeing more leading than I would like and will try a different lube soon. Since I learned to paper patch, I’m finding it harder to accept any leading at all. I wanted to start with a gg bullet in this rifle for a convenient hunting load. I hope to buy a pp mold soon.
This little cartridge is fun to shoot, easy on lead, powder, and the shoulder!
I’m still waiting for my hay field to be cut so I can start working with it at 300 yards. If I can get it to shoot well at 300, I’ll be satisfied.
