4 Foot Shoot-N-See Target
This may be old news to some but thought I would share this info in case a few guys need ideas for long range targets, "that you can actually see the bullets hit".

I usually don't have a spotter when I shoot so it can be a real challenge to tell where I am hitting. I had to come up with something I could use on my own.

My local GS has the big 18" shoot-n-see targets, but they are $24 for 4 targets!!?Angry No thanks

So here is what I came up with.

I took a steel fence post and drove it in the ground. ($0.00 cause I have lots of old ones laying around the ranch)

Stood a wood pallet on edge and droped it over the post. Put the post all the way to the side to reduce hits to the post. ($0.00 pulled it from the dumpster)

Then coverd (stapled on heavy with staple gun) the entire face of the pallet with plastic coated freezer paper with the plastic side out. ($4.50 for 75sq).
I already had one layer of paper on the pallet that had been holding up through the winds and snow for 2/3 weeks now so I think it will last a while.

Painted the whole thing with a can of "flat black" spray paint. ($3.00)

Now just cut-out a cardboard disc 12-18" around and painted it white.

Way to cold to really enjoy shooting tonight but I had to try it...It took me a few shots to get on target, but the 3 that hit the black made real nice white splashes. When the bullet hit the paper, it knocked enough paint off to really show up well. The 2 that hit the 12" white cardboard dics made dark holes.

I was able to see these hits very well at 687yards tonight in faiding light with my scope.

Very pleased with the results of this target and I now have a giant 4Foot "Shoot-N-See target.Tongue Not sure how long it will last, but it is real easy to touch up the black with a little spray paint and I can just replace the center cardboard discs.

I'll post some pics if it ever warms up enough to really enjoy some range time.
