I wouldn't give up on the greasers completely, but paper patching is a lot of fun and easy to get started with. When I first started with it I was using a C. Sharps .45-110 ( the same rifle I've posted about here ). That was maybe 3 or 4 years ago.

It took me a few weeks of fiddling and I was getting terrible accuracy. Then I got some advice from Rick, Don, and several guys on the Shiloh and Cast Bullet forums. Most of those guys are on this site now :-). I shot two sets of targets with rounds loaded as they were recommended to me. The first was at 100m and was sub-moa. The second target was at 200m and was under 1.5moa.

The load for this rifle really hasn't changed much over the last coule of years except that I've upped the powder charge a bit. Today the rifle put 8 out of 10 shots into under 2" of vertical at 200m. The two flyers were likely poor control on my part.

These days I shoot greasers, paper patch, and have been messing with breech seating. All of the techniques will eventually produce excellent accuracy IMHO. Paper patching might sound tricky, but it is really easy to get started if you follow down the same road these guys have gone down.

I couldn't tell you how my rifle and PP loads will do a longer ranges but I'm going to find out next month. I expect any problems I run into will be caused by me and not the paper patching.
