Kurt,

does you mic still have the mechanical markings or is strictly digital. if you screw it all the way in, tighten it up on a piece of paper and pull the paper out (which cleans the anvils) and then close it, it should read 0.

you can also double check it on the shank end of the reamer. I will bet that reamer shank is 7/16 which should measure .4375. that will check you mics out. then also check the bore pilot against the size you specified. that should be good enough to tell if your mics are reading true.

do you have a 1/2 dowel pin. a real one, not a wood dowel. a 1/2" dowel will measure .500 of course and will be close enough to check you mics at that spot also.
