Hey there Jim:

Early on in my learning curve with BPCR one of the more well respected shooters advised me 0.001 or less--------------the targets proved he was exactly correct-----------group sized was reduces by 50% with "straight" cat'ridges.

I built my own runout checking fixture and "straightened" a dummy cartridge till the runout was less than 0.001-then carefully formed the nose punch with epoxy putty and the dummy round.

Worked pretty well, had to make few punches until it got where i wanted to be

Case neck condition ----cleanliness, appropriate chamfering and a quality expander punch to establish and control correct neck tension are all part of low runout numbers
