Anybody had any experience with this cartridge? I see Lipsey's has got Ruger to make some mods to the single six , and are now offering a single 7 model for it.

I have a Ruger SP101 and a GP 100 chambered in 327 Fed. Haven't worked with them much, shot enough to know they work and are accurate enough. They ride with me in my trucks. I did shoot a goat with the round, it knocked the goat down and it got back up, twice. Then I found out that I had the wrong loads in the revolver and had solids I bought for plinking. I think if it had the hollow points it would have killed the goat on the first shot. Seemed to have enough power and is a fun round to shoot. Would do well at the revolver shoots in Ekalaka and Big Hill.

Thanks H, have you by chance ever chronographed the 327 and compared it against the 32-20? I'm thinking with a good swc bullet it would be a pretty potent number.

Don, I don't have a 327 and don't really know anything about it, but I did do a little research on the net to educate my self on it. I do agree with you, from what I have read, that it would be a pretty potent number, and is probably a step up from a 32-20. It does run a lot higher pressure than what is normally loaded in a 32-20 and I would bet that a good swc either plain based or gas checked would be a pretty hard to beat combination.

I don't have a .327 either, however, I do have a Mauser and a CZ52 in .30 Mauser as well as a .32-20 carbine. The 32 with a 105 grain soft cast round nose flat point bullet over 9 grains of 2400 makes an awful wound in porcupines and coyotes. The .30 Mauser with the same bullet over 5.5 grain of Unique is equally impressive on porcupines and skunks. In my opinion, the bullet does not need to be hollow pointed for success; merely not cast too hard and with a flat point.

Years ago I had a colt model p and a Winchester 92, both in 32-20, they were both were great on turkey's so long as you kept to head shots, drop the sight a bit and hit the breast and there sure wasn't much left..

LOL Don, that sounds like you had one or two of those "awh shit" moments with the 32-20.

Dixiejack, I think it would be a hell of a wicked round in a small single shot rifle. I don't know if a Martini Cadet will handle the pressure or not but I do think that the smallest of the FBW actions should take it. Maybe even the new low walls would be able to handle it.
Personaly, I think I will just stick with the 32-20 for my cadet, when I get around to having it barreled. I do have a colt clone in 32-20 that shoots extremely well with a lyman cast gas check bullet and it would be nice to have a rifle that shot the same caliber and hopefully the same load.
