I shot very seldom this past year with my Sharps as it was so frickin hot this past summer I didn't care to subject myself to the rigors of enduring the intense heat so as of yesterday I'd probably gone at least ten months without picking up the Shiloh. Yesterday I did take the 45 2 7/8 to the range to see if all was well. Basically I wanted to ascertain to see if the 200 yard zero was holding and it was. While I was shooting the thought occurred to me that it is no problem for me at all to take my SP rifles equipped with scopes to the range and have all the shots hit to center...no challenge! However....shooting aperture tang sights with a post front sight is a challenge even though at age 75 the front sight still appears clear as a bell and the satisfaction to hear the CLANG on steel and see these 530 grain PP bullets make a black spot on the painted white plate is way more satisfying than shooting the modern rifles/bullets!! There's just something about BLACK POWDER!!

Today, barring any forecast rain I plan on going back and checking out the 500 yard zero and then I can be assured all is well!
