RE: Now what to do...
Don I wonder if that's DanT's reamer design? Manson has his PP reamer prints on file. The end of that one looks a lot like mine. .474" case mouth and a 25 degree taper at the end. I've got both the .45-70 and .45-90 versions and am happy with the way they shoot.

and also hope the pilot fits the bore correctly.
this is critical to alignment.
if it is loose, the whole deal might cost you a set of pin gauges.
keep safe,

I think this was what was going on with some of the early Browning BPCR. I have one that a bad chamber that I was fortunate enough to clean out with a throating reamer and a proper fitting extended pilot.

RE: Now what to do...
The floating pilots are pretty cheap and easy to get from Manson. I had to buy a couple of extras when I sent a reamer to CPA.
I think it's the top reamer too. That's the one that I've got in .45 for the 2.1" and 2.4" case. I used a sizing die and taper crimp die to form the cases.
I found that the 2.1" version works very well with a thin card wad plus a 0.060" LDPE. The .45-90 needs either a lube cookie, or two LDPE wads. When I used a single wad I found some burned patch fragments. I think my best targets are with a lube cookie.
I think you'll like the reamer. It'll be interesting to hear your experiences with it. When I talked with Dan a while ago he was using the 2.6" case length, but I noticed that he went back to the .38 cal rifle for the big match in Arizona.
I've recently got a case of OE 1.5. I'm hoping that the .45-2.4" will really like that powder. I don't think it needs too fine a granulation. With plain Goex Fg I was doing 1300 fps, and with FFg it was right around 1350 fps which is just 10 fps short of my .45-110.

RE: Now what to do...
That's interesting Don. 82gr of Goex FFg Express was also the sweet spot for the .45-2.1.
I think that for the 2.4" chamber I'm going to end up with between 85-88gr of Goex Fg. I haven't tried the OE yet. It is pretty light and fluffy stuff though.
