Range direction
AAARRGGh.Undecided Thinking about putting in a full size sillouette range, along with 22 bpcr and possibly levergun range here at the house. Problem is I'm having a tough time finding someplace that we could shoot north out to the 500 meter ram line.
Right now it's looking like my best option is going to be to put that in the same draw as I have my long range setup... It's a pain in the tush to shoot straight west tho...

RE: Range direction
buy the place north of you and shoot north

I think North is the best choice followed by south, west and east in that order.

Most of the year, you can shoot west if you finish early. East is nice if you don't mind a late start but in the summer, noon is a normal start.

RE: Range direction
There is a place across the road and a bit north that would make a grand place to put in a shooting range, it's fairly flat and doesn't have all the draws and rock ridges like I have here at the house.

RE: Range direction
That would sure tickle me if you get one built. A fourth place to shoot within a few hours of home! Yahoo!

Yes it would be fun. If nothing else maybe Carol and I can get practiced up a bit...
Just need to figure out the rail thing, and then give Schlagels a call, after I figure out just where to put the thing. If the neigbhors offered that pasture up for sale I'ld sure be tempted..

It all sounds great to me Don ...but gee...that's one long drive in the Jeep. Tongue Would be great to have some practice distance at home but five acre blocks on the edge of town just dont cut it unfortunately. Some people have no sense of adventure Rolleyes

Now there's a thought ...? Alas.. pages of regulations/ restrictions/ caveats and all that sort of thing put paid to any spontaneous ideas of that nature. Good luck with your range though Don. Sounds like a grand idea to me.
