That's interesting as all get out.

Dean what did the bullet weigh? Was it similar to the military 45-70?

Dean, Do you happen to have a picture of that bullet? If not, would you describe it for us, and what the grooves look like? Thanks.

RE: Bullet size quandry
I did , and sent it but it didnt show up.
it looked like a patched bullet with grooves cut into it ,or rolled into it. round nose flat base , and weighed about 419 or 417 gns. no pic sorry , it was before good cell phones. powder was course and not badly compacted but solid enough to not pour out. didnt disturb it. the round and box was not mine , ,when I go up this fall I will measure it again and photograph it and the box for yall.
I do remember it was a wra,,

Here is an original Sharps 400 gr two groove bore diameter mould. Notice that they did not have a bore riding step.

That flat nose is interesting on a Sharps bullet.

Stephen I don't know. It's not my mould. The picture and info was sent to me by a friend. I think the outline might be a vent line that starts at the nose.

That almost looks like a dead ringer for the bullet Winchester used in the 40-6o or 45-75
