Great - she sounds like a keeper! Of course once you have dedicated reducers you will have to have another rifle so you can have dedicated rifles too. My wife doesn't want to shoot my guns - she wants to shoot HER guns. Works out perfectly!
I thought just the reducer thickness that it comes with it was OK but a couple of Dr Scholls cut to fit in it and I am never bruised or beat up by recoil. I shoot mostly 50-90 w 100 grs of Swiss. My little 45-70 carbine turned me several shades of black and blue in the summer with just a t-shirt on. The recoil pad solved that 100%. IMHO, I would rather shoot the calibers I like than try to downsize into something I don't care about just to reduce recoil. The pad will do that.
