Grandsons caught it yesterday! After disabling the snapping part...Connor laid down beside it to show the size...and he's a big boy!!

Nice! Many years ago room mates and I ran a winter trap line in college and if lucky snapper's were on the table! It was not "poor fare"!

Turtle is prime eating! When we lived in the MS Delta almost every year some farmer would find a biggun crossing from one slough to another. Over a 150 lbs was not uncommon.

Crikey ! I had no idea they got that big . Would take the edge off going skinny dipping I'd reckon . Is soup the best end result or are there other ways of preparing it ?

Boys stuck a fresh 2" diameter cypress limb in his mouth and he bit it in half slick as a whistle!!

Typical age is 20-70 years but an old timer here in these parts made a comment that this dude was catching something to eat when Lee surrendered at Appomattox! It's been estimated that some caught were 200 years old. This one has dang certain been around a while!!

I cook ours in the oven in a broiler pan on a rack suspended above water. Tender as all get out.

I watch these guys in OK noodle big cats and I just shudder at the thought of getting a big snapper cornered. Wouldn't be pretty!
