CPA
Do you guys that have a CPA in 45/90 have any trouble loading them?
Some of my older ones you have to work the hammer to get them loaded and get the brass out.
Thanks Bill

RE: CPA
Bill, I have a couple of CPA's but in schuetzen cartridges. Not particularly relevant I know, but I do know that CPA has two types of hammers. I have the lightweight hammers on mine for reduced lock time. I have heard that they have more clearance.

RE: CPA
I have the light weight hammers on my 40/60 Maynard CPA and even with a 2.2 case length I don't have an issue but my first one in 40/65 IHad to work the hammer and trigger to get to load, now it's a 38/56 and no trouble.

RE: CPA
Some times when shooting a heavy money greaser in the 90 I have to thumb the hammer back a bit further to get the round started in.

RE: CPA
Bill.

I have three CPA's and the .45-90 PP slides right in with just a slight drag on the rim that I don't need to do anything to load or extract.
The .44-100 Rem on a 2,6 case it gets to be a problem where I need to hold the spur down slightly with it on 1/2 cock loading but not extracting.
The .44-90 BN 2-5/8 case this is a little tough with the larger diameter case and the .625 rim diameter to clear the hammer spur and I had to open the ears in the receiver slightly for the rim to clear, but extracting is not a problem.
One time I put the hammer in full cock and closing the breach it dropped the hammer, so this is not the thing to do. I was going to bend the spur down slightly but with the light weight hammer it just clears the tang at full cock. I might order another hammer and have CPA mill a small notch in the spur for the .44-90 BN.

RE: CPA
Thanks Kurt. That's what I wanted to know. If you guys can get them loaded I think I will be able to.
