RE: My .44-100 Rem St.
Kurt what I was referring to was a larger diameter slick. It would let a .434 diameter bullet wrapped in 8 lb paper chamber.
I know a fella that had a 100 built with an "orville" chamber, he couldn't get it to shoot patched the way he wanted so he started deep seating a grease groove bullet, and you really don't want to shoot against him.

Don I knew what you were getting at. My chamber will not except a bullet in the case larger then .442" I use a patched bullet from .439 to .441 depending on the paper and as tight as I can chamber the round with letting the block mildly cam it in. It's to tight using thumb pressure. It's the case mouth that will not seat with a over sized bullet. Now I can breach seat a larger bullet diameter.
I rechambered the .44-75 with the overly deep grooves with my .44-90-2-5/8 bn that has a little larger diameter case neck but it still will not except a GG.

Mike.
Someday when I get on better terms with CSA I will have a Hepburn build chambered with my .44-100 reamer. It is a fitting chamber for the Hepburn.
That barrel on the rifle above I had intended to have it on a 85 CSA till John said I will not put that Krieger s*** barrel on my actions.
See you at the Q..........Kurt
