RE: Little Missy
I would settle for minute of chickens any time. Those critters just don't stand still.
The reason a dog has so many friends is because he wags his tail instead of his tongue.

RE: Little Missy
Hanz this is about a good of place to pick up patching information what needs to be done patching a bullet. Brent has been at it for a spell, some of the things he has written here http://www.public.iastate.edu/~jessie/PPB/PPB.htm has changed a little from what he is doing now but he has it written as well as anybody. He is a patch shooter not a keyboard shooting parrot.

Hanz paper patching can be a rewarding experience, it can also make you want to tear your hair out at times.
Best thing to do if you decide you want to give it a whirl, let us know what rifle and cartridge you're going to try it in, and those with experience can tell you what works for them.

I'll be doing that for sure. Thank you for the offer.

RE: Little Missy
Another great range day, 94 degrees and a mild 15 MPH breeze today and Sept is just about over so the good days are just about over so this morning I put the DZ scope on Missy and shot six-five shot groups at just 130 yards today because the 200 was busy so I went home and shot in the yard.
Today I shot 3F OE powder because I have just about a case of it so I loaded it with 56, 57, 58, 59, 60 and 61 grains. The bullet is from a custom made at my dimensions I had Jim cut at .394" 1.460" Elliptical and used a Fed 150 match pistol primer.
I had one 58 gr load that started with the first 3 shots in 5/8" and two that dropped 1 1/2 under it but the two shots were loaded in new unfired that came with the 200 new cases that had 4 extra. Surprising that the two shots dropped down that much. The groups from 56 grains to 61 did not change that much from 1" horizontal by 1-1/2 vertical to 2" horizontal by 2 3/8 vertical. Some of this I think was from wind because I did not change sight settings I just shot for groups. The best group was with a 60 gr load of 3F and 61 gr load was right in there with the 60 gr. I loaded up another ladder load this afternoon with the same as I shot this morning and use the 200 yard. I need trigger time anyway. Smile
A comment on the 3F OE powder. It was hot today and the barrel also got very hot because I did not let it cool to keep it like a match relay, I wanted the same hot barrel I get at the matches. I been reading on the forums that the 3F gets harder fouling, I didn't see or feel this using almost dry patch with RV antifreeze that they were dampened with and one patch damp and one dry the dry patch had very little fouling and it did not drag through the bore with a tight jag I use on my rod. Humidity was 52% and 91 at 11 AM.
I will work some more with the 3F and maybe set up a chronograph to check the ES and SD for the heck of it to see if a good load will make pit safety before Lodi next spring to see if the little round will hold it's own at 1K.
So far all the different powder/bullets and primers I have shot through this rifle I'm not disappointed with it.

RE: Little Missy
Dear Missy, Please tell your benefactor that my manager has just scored a supply of OE powders ;-) Fortunately I was not involved but one of my Safe Mates (12ga Single percussion) was sacrificed over the counter at big emporium in Lodi, Ohio for near it's weight in 1 1/2 & 2F OE powder, Lucy. Kurt we are following your R&D albeit with the greaser slug in the 40-65. As noted before 2f GOEX was not giving results desired. Hopefully a few more FPS and cleaner burn switching to OE as touted will rule. Got enough pound wise for ladder tests and some matches too so was worth 2 hour drive each way paid for by lack of Haz Mat fees Smile , Grass hopper M2
