RE: Frustrated
I have in no way been frustrated with loading, casting, paper patching hunting and/or shooting '74 Sharps Rifles of many flavors, there's simply too much cool stuff to learn, and holy damn the rush from killing game with them when all the bench, casting and loading time come together from one small caress of the set trigger!

RE: Frustrated
Kevin,
Thank you for posting, especially the first post. I had just gotten a BACO 540 gr .45 Money mold and all the stuff I need to cast but I have been putting it off. After reading your post I figured it can't be worse than that, so time to start. I used an RCBS Pro Melt my Dad left me (I have an Easy Melt I'll try next with the ladle). It was still 2/3 full of wheel weight lead he used for molding 9mm and .45 ACP. I heated up the furnace and used the lead in it to practice with and get the mold up to temp. When the furnace was finally empty and about 100 bullets later I had every thing from half formed to severely wrinkled to shootable bullets finally. I was reminded of your first post many times. I put in some 20/1 and figured practice is over. After another 50 bullets adjusting the temp for the 20/1 alloy with the +/- 100 degree knob on the Pro Melt, I realized why a PID is a big deal. But I ended up cranking out 35 that are great - they're already sized and lubed. I'll weigh them tomorrow then load them for a trip to the range Thursday. So all-in-all I agree with your follow on post - EZ PZ.
