Hey Kurt
If you haven't got any of those jamison 2 7/8 cases from Jerry Dean, you might want to give them a go. The ones he sent me would be dang near a perfect fit for the 44-100 as they come out of the baggie..Undecided .465 od at the mouth.

RE: Hey Kurt
WHat are they at the base just above the rim?

RE: Hey Kurt
They are close at the head I need .499 but .501 and .502 is a lot closer then .504 that I been swaging down to .499.

RE: Hey Kurt
I can send you a handful Monday if you want to try them, even if they don't work for you. It won't bother what I'm going to do to them.

RE: Hey Kurt
TNX. Don but no dont split up your lot batch.

I have 300 Starline workable cases that are working good, but that stuff is so hard to swage down the base .005" I have to use the swage press to run them through the base swage die I made then I have to use a drift pin to drive them out or I will pull the rims off pulling them out of the die because they spring back .0014 and they have to be run through twice again before I anneal them for the second time for the first firing.

I ordered some Norma .45-120 sharps brass when there was a special on it and that is even harder to get the bases swagged down, so I will lay that brass back or the 45-2.4 PP loads if I need some.

What are you using 2 7/8 brass for?

RE: Hey Kurt
Kurt I'm going to trim this down for that 40-90 project.Don't need many for this, so only ordered 50 but would sure send you 10 or so if you want to try them.
I got a batch of that Norma brass coming from Cabela's for this project also. If it measure's like the other Norma brass, what ever is left will/should work good for patched bullet cases in the 44. The ones I've been using from my other batch on the 44 are holding up real well.

RE: Hey Kurt
Save them for your .40 project Don.
The way this .44 100 is set up with what I'm using with all the difficulty it has been fitting the brass I will stick with it because the results have been worth it.
This brass will work as long as the primer pockets will hold the primers because nothing has to be done to the brass beside cleaning it and reloading it. No sizing or taper crimp needed.
I have 320 rounds and that is enough to play with before a match and shoot it without having to reload.

RE: Hey Kurt
Well not exactly Sam. Fella got ahold of me the other day, says he's got one he hasn't shot in about 10 years. If I want to mess around with it and see what it can or can't do have right at it.
So now just have to coordinate schedules so either I can get up there and get it from him or he can bring it down.
Figure it'll be good to see if I want to plunk down good money on one or not.
