Yes, but Arnie your little shoots are fun, for me anyway they are.
I almost came to just watch and help setup but changed plans when I saw the weather map Friday night.
I think your match and Merrill would benefit for the long travelers to come. If you could get the range say 1/2 day on Friday to setup and have the guys get sight settings and a little load work on Friday afternoon and two days putting holes through paper would build your and Merrills attendances.

I even went to the range today and shot my .22 after mounting the scope on it and got a 50, 100, 150 and 200 yard sight settings. I think I will go to Alma and just shoot the .22 silhouette match, not suppose to shoot the heavy recoiling rifles till after my follow up with the Ophthalmologist to let both eyes heal.

Kinda made a day out of it shooting 150 rounds Big Grin but I still have a problem seeing the cross hairs when they are on a black iron swinger. Pretty dark looking through that scope.

Kurt,
I agree on the problem seeing crosshairs on black targets.
Paint them white

Arnie I can do this here at home but the little .22 critters are black at the matches.
I will find out if I'm having a center vision loos when I get through the followup at the eye doc, and If there is something I can do to get it fixed.
I also need to get back to my .44-77 with a newly altered bullet mould. I want to at least stay close to Jim at the matches Big Grin
I have a feeling the fire you lit with these double diameters is going start a pile of metal chips under the lathe and mill in my shop Big Grin

Right now I need Jim to find what is working for his because we both have comparable rifles Big Grin Big Grin

Sight in on the animals with the horizontal crosshair on the belly line.

A very good idea , Don,
I used to use a 6:00 hold in the days of handgun silhouette
Chickens where "leg meets body" etc

and pumpkin on a post
in Hi Po Service Rifle competition back in the days of peep and post
But later, I had more and more problems with elevation.
Then I went to center mass and things were better .

Arnie when spotting for a scope shooter I like to zero the wind on the turkeys leg and the rams pecker
That allows for slight wind shifts just tell them led or right of leg or pecker
Seems to be mischievous handier than trying to adjust the scope knobs
Shooting target rifle I know a couple of guys that use 6 o’clock on the bull
Bull the few times I’ve shot target rifle scoped I just put the center mildly on the x

Indeed, I ,too when using a scoped rifle , will center mass/x ring hold OR, sometimes do a hold off f or wind/mirage

I favor the post sight over the round apertures and I still use a post on my rifles on and off. I'm used to a post and also use a 6 O-Clock hold with just a thin white line under the black for the paper matches. but O just cant see that thin white line anymore well enough to get a uniform hold.
If my .44-77 hunting rifle had adjustable barrel sights I would use it over the tang sights. I shoot that rifle better than my other rifles with the tang sights.

Jim,

You been pretty quiet for a spell. You must be working overtime with that laser guided bullet and secret load getting that .44-77 ready for Lodi Big Grin
