Accuracy/Velocity Info

RE: Accuracy/Velocity Info
I'm about 100 miles away and we have about 8-10 inches. I'd say this is more typical than not. I can remember many times thinking we were about to start work and get hit with about a week of this.
Looks like white $ signs to me. Ranchers will loose a few lambs and calves, but they'll have grass now to feed the rest and water in the reservoirs. Crops will get a good start too. It was looking real ugly about a week ago if we didn't get good moisture.

Sounds like this thing that's coming at us Monday thru Wednesday might be a billion dollar storm, if the moisture predictions hold up.

Rick
You must have a older lot of 3F, Goex.
I can't get that much in a .45-70 case, even using a DT.
The Goex, after Hodgdon took over is much lighter in volume/weight that before the take over. Doesn't even look the same either......

I'm compressing just under .400" now, to get 64 gns(weight)of the newer lot that is the same volume as 70 gns(weight)was with the older lot.
Put a PJ, c'moor on top.....
This newer stuff doesn't even look like the older stuff. Very flat in color and not the deep black color either.

Big GrinBig Grin Soon as I burn this lot up, got 17 lbs to go. I'll order either some KIK or this Old E stuff.
Funny thing is, the newer stuff shoots to same sight settings as the old lot did.
Got to crono these loads, someday.

RE: Accuracy/Velocity Info
Have been doing some more testing...after some reading about Kik, I desided to order some 2f Kik. Maybe the wind will stop by the time it gets here. Cold wind has not let up for 5 days.Huh

I had a can of 3f Kik...so I loaded some up with 70gr behind the 535Postell and some with 68gr Swiss 1 1/2 and got some real nice results at 300yrds even in the winds. I have to start taking the camera so I can show the results cause I surely won't say how good the load did without some pics to do the talking. Both loads broke 1225fps so I may be able to reach the farther ranges with some luck.

Swiss is sure nice to be able to just drop-tube 61gr, stuff in a OP wad and bullet with your thumb and go shoot a MOA group at 300ydsTongue
But the Kik seemed to do a fine job for less money, so I think that is what I will use even if it takes a little more work for the loads.

Just loaded some with 74g 3fKik to try if the wind ever lets up..lol I manged to bulge one case trying to cram this much powder in behind the postell with a wad column of .120Blush (edit:..not .20, sorry Grits)

RE: Accuracy/Velocity Info
Hope you meant to type a .020" wad, and not one the is 3/16+ thick....
How much did you compress that KIK 3F, 70 grain load with the wad?
