for rent , a lead mine
just rambling:
I have been scrubbing on a 40-65 for about 2 weeks , I felt the need for speed and loaded the cases with 70 gns of 3F and a 265 gn pp bullet , in a 16 twist rifle ,
I got paper rings on every case ,
I dont know if I blew by or slipped the rifling , but they did get out and move, but they left a lot behind to remind me,
I did this once in the past with a 292 gn 45 pp bullet pushed with 110 gns of 2F for an express load, it didnt work either ,
I was wondering while cleaning how the old guys shot these loads , I suspect the twists were slower,

Dean

What was your velocity? Dad told me many years ago (1948)...bout the time I was wearing out an 03A3 Springfield shooting cast bullets that I had to load such that the bullets stayed UNDER 1500 fps; otherwise the bore would lead!! I shot THOUSANDS of cast bullets from age 8 until I went into the service at 18 and we never had a lead mine to work on with that rifle! Don't recall the load but I do recall that it was accurate!

I didnt chrono it,I was only playing trying to find some settings and see if they would shoot ,
they made round holes at 300 and seemed to follow the sighs for awhile , I do not want to repeat it over the chrono , cause I am getting to the bottom ,of the lead.
Don , this one is a 16 . Really wish it was an 18 if it was I would make it into a different calibre ,

Dean I think that taking a 40-90 bn reamer to that thing would still be a good thing to do.
