Shooting?
Anybody been shooting?
We've been playing with the 22 swingers, and that's been a good bit of fun.
This afternoon I got the 44-77 out and proceeded to unload some of the cases that I wanted to reload back up for Byers.
Dodgy I still sometimes have to scratch my head and wonder. I had about 150 rounds loaded with KIK 1.5 and the Brooks postel bullet. I pulled the bullet on 20 some , reinforced the wad stack and stuffed one of the BACO 434470's bullets back in the case. The other 20 some odd from that box I left as is.
That Brooks bullet hasn't really shot all that well for me past 800, but I needed a good sight setting for 900, so that's where I shot from. Now I'm here to tell you that those bullets just proceeded to make a mess out of that 26 inch bullseye on the big target..Huh I got those all shot up and went after the patched bullets, not thinking they would shoot all that well , I went after the little gong from the 900 yd line. Didn't get it but like Carol said a couple of times, you sure scared it...Big Grin So I took the last 3, and went back to the big target and my spotter tells me they were landing one on top of the other in a big splot at about 2:30 just off the edge of the white..
So had a good time this afternoon, got some Jamison brass freed up and ready to go rock and roll with the big boys in a couple of weeks.

RE: Shooting?
Don,

I been thinking on starting to shoot silhouette and I think I will pull a barrel off one of my Brownings and put a .44-77 barrel on it.
I'm finding that there are some of those matches closer than what I have been driving too.
Friendship IN is only 6 hrs from me and some up in Mich that are closer.

I talked to Kreiger about the Obermeyer Approved 5-R rifling for the .44 and I think they sounded positive but not quite ready to offer it for the .44.

RE: Shooting?
Thank you. I see that they have something for all shooters and monthly BLK matches.
I will have to check it out. Not sure if the matches are just for members or an open one. Reading the site it sounds like you have to have a sponsor.

RE: Shooting?
Kurt,

The ranges most used in our area, for silhouettes, are at Wright City, MO., and Effingham, IL They both have regular matches. The club near Quincy, IL is a private club and currently is not open to any type of public shooting, although it does have target backstops 100 yds. to 600 yds. that can be used by club members.

Jim
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!
