Old books
You know those old gun books a fella see's a yard sales, and other such places people are looking to undload their junk without going to the dump?

Well don't over look those things. There's some good info . Was going thru a pile of old Gun Digests I had amassed over time. In the 1962 16th editon there's two real interesting to us old gun weirdo types.Tongue
First was a big article on the Farrow rifles and then followed with several pages of reprint of the Farrow catalog.
Then a few pages after the Kentucky Rifle segment... There was a short article about sea otter hunting. Seems as tho at about the same time as the buffalo hunt was going on , seashore residents were making a good living on the sea otters. Now this is where it gets real interesting. The article spoke of when the otters were about gone, and the pelts weren't worth as much. The few hardy souls that stuck with it turned to,,, are you ready for this...ConfusedDon't guessCool 44-77-470 and 44-90-520 Sharps and Remington rifles equipped with long range sights and telescopes, and one them even shot a 40-90-370 by Freunds..Big Grin
Boys there's gold in them thar books.. don't let em go to the trash.

RE: Old books
I have a book that was given to me. John Wesley Powell's report to congress, it gives all the interesting facts back in that day. I never really paid very much attention to the book until I realized that there was a jacket in the book that contained 2 maps of the USA dating 1895. these are color maps showing Indian reservations, etc of the USA as it existed in 1895. both color maps are now framed and hanging on the wall of my log cabin that I live in

RE: Old books
These old books are not to be ignored or overlooked. Even if you don't get around to reading them all, they are history. If I don't need them, I always pick them up and maybe pass them on to another old geezer that can still read Tongue !
That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it!
