I've been trying to come up with a load using Swiss 11/2 because that's what I have the most of . It seems to be the go to powder by lots of shooters. I also have a few pounds of Geox 2f express. And the few loads that I have tried seem right there with the Swiss 11/2 with speed and accuracy. I'm going to place a order at Powder Inc. I want to try some Olde Eynsford. Really all this testing was also getting trigger time...
I see the paper patch shooters post lots of pics of amazing groups at ridiculous distance . What do the top shooters that shoot greasers consider a accurate load . I'm thinking 1/2 the size I'm getting.
As Hanz pointed out all the loads gave close to the same result.
I'm going to try a few cast at 16 to 1 . Everything so far has been 20 to 1.
Are there any shooters that shoot BPCR with paper Patch loads . Looks neat !

Group size is a tricky thing when you start talking about anything past 300. A good rifle will shoot very small groups when the wind isn't blowing. I'm happy if the rifle will hold better than the 10 ring for vertical ( ten or more shots ) on a windy day, when shot from an NRA legal prone position. It gets progressively trickier as the distances get bigger. Midrange is not too bad, but it's quite difficult at long range. This is why the internet shows lots of tiny groups but there are no perfect targets being shot at 600 and further. Although the top shooters are getting close.

I hear ya about the peeps floaters are a pain. . Im also tinkering with a few other rifles and shooting groups as good or better than past best groups. Hopefully it not totally me ...but wouldn't rule it out .LoL

Snocat there are very few shooters using paper patch, mostly because greasers are easier, and there's still the misinformation floating around about how horribly inaccurate paper patch is. Yet we see some very competitive scores being fired by those shooting patched and using powders other than Swiss...

I'm also finding out wind really plays a much greater roll, even at 200m most of the time at least one ribbon was dancing pretty good along the way.
The big hammers I've been tinkering with buck the wind way better. Lol
I've got a few of the best loads put together to give them another try when it's dead calm . Also mix up a batch cut with some WWs.
A 6 inch group at 500 meters is a tall order

You'll get that 2 moa group, hang in there.

There aren't many people shooting 6" groups at 500m. You can hold 6"-8" of vertical at that distance if you have things really figured out, and you don't get hit by head/tail wind gusts, but it's very unlikely that a true 6" of horizontal will be kept. The ten ring at 600 yards is 2 minutes of angle and no one has, in an NRA match, shot a perfect 100 score to my knowledge. The good shooters will be well into the 90's, but generally drop a few points due to wind reading mistakes. You only have to misread the wind by less than a mile and a half per hour to convert a center X to a 9 at that distance.
