BSA 12/15 and SK rifle match - yes, a match!
Went this afternoon to the range to try some new ammo in the BSA 12/15, SK rifle match. Shot 15 shots to ge tthe feel of it and to zero the rifle, then proceeded to shoot the last 5 shots on a separate target as attached. THe club is limited to 75m (82 yds), so that's the distance I hung the target.

The 9 was the 1st shot after changing targets, maybe a cold barrel? Followed by the edge 10 at 4 o'clock, and then the 3 in the ragged hole. Sights were the standard Parker-Hale peep sights with 1/4 minute adjustments, target was a reduced one of the 100m ISSF target for the 75m distance.
All shooting prone, 2-point sling, no support. Seems like rifle and ammo really get along! SK really produces some quality stuff, the long range match also shoots very well in this rifle.

I have a couple of rifles that just thrive on the SK rifle match, but yet another one that scatters the stuff all over the place. But all 3 of them seem to be able to get along well with Eley target... 22's and their favored diets are an interesting thing.
Have only been able to get my hands on one box of the long range, but that box sure showed some promise.
Those BSA's are sure some nice accurate rifles.

I have one of those actions that I had a barrel put on years ago. Wasn't an expensive barrel but it is heavy. about 7/8" in diameter and straight. No irons on it but does have scope blocks for unertl/lyman scopes. It will shoot very well with Eley and have a 5 shot group at 100 yds under an inch. With SK Pistol Special match I am well under 2" at 150 yards or so. And the SK ammo is about half the price of the Eley I tried.
It would be a bit of an understatement to say I was surprised at how well that rifle shot.

That is some fine shooting unsupported for sure. That must have put you on the top of the leader board.

Shooting a couple friends BSA I always felt I would like to have one.
I like the action and all of those rifles shot very good.
Sam I have a CPA with a heavy barrel like yours. Mine is 1" at the muzzle and 1-1/4 at the breach 28" long it comes in just over 12#
I had it build it matching my silhouette rifle for of hand practice to boost my Chicken scores up Big Grin
I tested several different brands of .22 shells and all in all this rifle will shoot just about any of them.
This target I had the rifle double sand bagged front and rear to see what it will do at 100 yds.
It was surprising that this rifle shot the low end shells as well as the $20. stuff. I never shot the Eley yet but I will down the line to see what they will do. I still have 1-1/2 cases of Norma match I bought on a Black Friday sale one for $100. and the first for $200. They might out last my shooting them.

Kurt,
That CPA should be a good one for the long range 22 matches here in WI.
Whatever ammo you choose amongst those you showed.
INterestingly, regarding the SK Rifle Match, Three people I know have found that the SK Std Plus
has out shot the Rifle Match in their three different rifles
Perhaps a matter of Lot to Lot, but seems like these three guys/rifles each shot random lots of each and all three
decided on the Std Plus to shoot

Arnie,

I just had two boxes of the SK Match and it has shot better at the 100 and worse. You know the trouble I have with the eyes and scope Big Grin so I don't think it's the ammo that is not hitting center closer.
This is just one target and all are not as good or bad except the Augila super extra. What you see is the best it shot till the two boxes were shot up.

1 thing for sure: the rifle doesn't like RWS rifle match at all, and it does prefer SK over Eley. An old lot of Lapua Midas also shoots pretty well, but not if the temperature is below freezing, then it starts to throw fliers after 7-8 shots.

Well, I did it again. Popped for another BSA Martini INternational MKII that "came along". It is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I will install my extra Left Hand stock
right away along with scope blocks which it does not have. Probably install my Lyman STS 25X.

I hope I can get out maybe Saturday or Sunday afternoon when Temp is supposed to hit 30 or higher.
I will try, even in this current cold weather to try it out at 50 and 100yds. Will check out with
SK Long Range, Std Plus, and old Wolf Match Target (early lapua mfg)

We have our next long range "Indoor/Ourdoor match on the 11th .

Got another 500 of the same lot of that SK rifle match, the last box in the shop! I now have 2.000+ rounds of .22, that should keep me going for a while...

Always good to have a fair supply of the lot number you know the rifle likes. Save it for serious stuff and use other ammo for just for kicks and grins shooting.
