Next season

RE: Next season
Paul.

I looked for you at the Ben Avery last winter but you flew out before I got there. I did shoot at the Rio Salado range http://shooting-range.findthebest.com/l/...s-Club-Inc And they have a very nice camp ground close to the range. I will spend some time there with Dick Savage again this winter.
I wanted to shoot on the Avery range last year but I needed to get clearance from Steve Rhoades but that takes at least making two of his matches to get on.
Well maybe this winter I might get this done.

RE: Next season
Kurt,

The Rio looks like a nice practice facility. Is there camping on the grounds? I didn't see mention of a Silhouette range. Am I wrong? We didn't head home until the end of January but we had moved over to The NCSA in Pala, CA or down to the Chollo Gun Club in Yuma, AZ by then. Chollo is where Tom Mace and Dave Maurer among others hang around for the winter. On the way there we spent some time in Quartzite as it was the RV show, amazing. We were lucky enough to team up with Dick at Medicine Rocks this summer, one of the good guys. The schedule for the Ben Avery can be found here: http://www.arizonasharpshooters.com/6801.html Steve puts on 23 matches a year so if you're a little bit versatile there is always something to shoot and of course Steve has pioneered the Vintage Military Sniper rifle class which shoots right along with BPCR Silhouette. Anything up to the Korean War qualifies and the scope has to be of the type used. There are a dozen or so guys shooting this now and it looks like fun. I see that you are heading South after Christmas, by then we should be up to our armpits in the white stuff. Oh well, next year again.

Yes there is a camp ground by the range, not on the range. https://plus.google.com/1021180048451515...l=us&hl=en and they have a Silhouette range plus a Dogy park Smilehttp://www.riosaladosportsmans.com/

RE: Next season
So that's what Next Season looks like for you. Congratulations, looks great. Is this the one for Savannah? That would make it a 40-65 wouldn't it? Does John use a 1:16 twist now that he's switched to Green Mountain barrels? Good for you and her.

How's the repairs coming along?

Brian that looks like a fine rifle for the little Lady.
I been procrastinating on one for the .44-70 Maynard or the .44-75 Ballard chamber.

RE: Next season
I think some of my rifles are going to start getting those growths too :-). I'm not sure if I can shoot much better with them, but I live in the dark rainy northwest. The light is so terrible from Nov to about April that sometimes it's difficult to get a decent sight picture.
