Next season
I'm busy running this last season thru my mind, looking for things to do differently and bring the scores up for next year.
Anybody else doing the same?

RE: Next season
I would like to make Friendship next week if the camper parts get here and later after Christmas I'm going to head down to Cactus Land and spend time at the Whittington center and from there head down to the Rio Salado Range at Mesa AZ and Maybe shoot some with Steve Rhoades if he has something going. Then it starts all over again out your way Smile

RE: Next season
Are you taking the little 44 for that sillouette at Friendship?
I'ld love to spend a couple of weeks at the Whittington just going from range to range and shooting.
I think the Creedmoor cup is in March so if you could hang around Phoenix till then....
Haven't talked to Greg Cameron for awhile but they had some neat things going and planned for the Sierra Vista range.

Yes that is my plan taking the little .44 and the .44 bn, it makes weight also with a scope on it. I worked a ladder load for the new throat in the .44-77 I put in it and it's handling it pretty good.

Yes Whittington is a nice place to spend time at, especially in the winter. There must be a lot of fair weather shooters out that way cause I had the whole range to myself last winter.
The weather was a pleasant high teens during the night and it gets up into the 40's and 50's during the day. Just right for me.

They say it seldom snows there at the Whittington, so I'm thinking it'ld be a good place to spend the winter if a person was retired...
Someday when I grow up I'ld like to make it to that Creedmoor cup at Phoenix, but until we're not calving cows anymore , shooting in March someplace more than an hour from the house , ain't gonna happen..

RE: Next season
Last winter when we left Raton we ran into some heavy snow about 50-60 miles to the NE on our way back home.
Yes those cattle will tie one down. I spent 5 years on a farm doing the shores before and after School milking and the feeding cattle for the folks that took me in and put me through School when money was tight for Mom.

RE: Next season
That's one thing I really became aware of shooting those NRA matches this year. While some might disagree, one of the best things you can do after you find your load is shoot and shoot a lot. Unlike a gong shoot where a half bullet on target is a hit, in the paper matches it's going to be either a miss or a 5, 5's don't build score very fast.
Load and shoot, load and shoot, and don't wait for bluebird conditions, pick a day to do your weekly/biweekly practice and hell or high water you shoot on that day in the conditions you have.
