RE: New bullet, new prob ...
Wal-Mart has RV anti-freeze in the automotive section with their RV supplies.
At least the ones here do.........

Hi Lumpy Grits

There are no Wal-Mart stores in Australia, and the anti freeze that is available here are made by Aussie companies or International companies.

Do you know what the active ingredient is in anti-freeze.

the difference between anti freeze and rv anti freeze is rv isnt toxic. I believe the main ingredient is propylene glycol.
any good water soluable machine oil will also work , just mix with water in different ratios until your rifle says it likes the mix,, usually between 4-8 to 1 ratio water and oil.

THX PB.
Anti-freeze is VERY poisonous and FATAL, the smell 'draws' animals and kids.
Be careful!

Ethylene glycol (the automotive type) is the poisonous one. Propylene glycol (the RV type) is not poisonous and is added to some foods, at least that's what some ingredients labels attest.

Checked out the anti-freeze available here. All that is available is a product that is anti-freeze, anti-boil and anti coorsion. As we don't get very low temperatures here I presume that there isn't a market for straight anti-freeze.

Undecided Never thought about you being from down under.
Anyway if you can't get rv antifreeze, water soluble cutting oil works as powderburner mentioned.
I've also had decent results with Simple Green and water, a bit stronger on the Simple Green ratio than the water.
Murphy's soap oil and water works also.
And of course there's always ballistol and water.

Hi Guys

The local stuff has ethylene glycol.

For years i have used cutting oil and water as a black powder cleaner in my muzzleloading slug guns and black powder cartridge rifles, when Basllistol became available i switched to Ballistol and water. In my 40-65 RB the Ballistol works well and leading doesn't appear to be a problem but the 38's and the 32's have always been a headache with leading with leading when shooting black.

Cheers Vlad
