Here comes Santa Claus

RE: Here comes Santa Claus
Yes, my old .405 had a crescent buttplate with the 13" pull. I know what you mean about "meeting your fingernails." That just might be one reason why I didn't use it more. Another reason is because carrying a Model 71 in .348 with its nicely rounded bottom to the receiver is much nicer on the hand. But if I had to pick one all-time favorite rifle I'd probably fall back on my .250-3000. Shoot sharp, Mike

Those 99's are nice, I shot my first elk with one in 250. Have one in 308 that see's quite a bit of use, and those 180 gr Winchester power points out of the thing are darn good elk medicine.

I still have a 99 in the 300 savage. It is a 28 or maybe a 1929. That rotary magazine is a trouble free system. I also had a 22 savage high power but I sold that one to a fellow that really wanted it.
I would really still like to have one in a .358.

I've wanted one of those Hipowers forever, never seem to find one , when I have a little pocket change.

Here's my favorite:

A 22/250 with a Krieger 1-7" ROT and I shoot 90 gr. Sierra HPBT through it! Damn nigh unbelievably accurate all the way to 800 yards and probably even 1000 but haven't tried it there just yet! I do know....a coyote is 'walking dead' when I see one!! Using 35.5 grs. H4350 it's bad news!!

And Dillon's work great...for certain cartridges! I never have loaded BPCR cartridges on this one but for most of the other center-fire rounds they work fine. If loading for ultra-accuracy I stay with my T7 presses. Pistol/revolver cartridges are a gimme to reload!

The Palma Rife team loads all there practice match ammo on Dillon 550's. Wink
Anyone who thinks you CAN'T load match ammo on a D/550, is just dead wrong.
I been doing just that for decades on mine-

Quite a few of the powders I use require a 'drop tube' to settle the powder such that the base of the bullet sits atop the powder instead of coming into the neck area. The Dillon is fine...but not suited much for use of a drop tube!

Hope ya had a MERRY CHRISTMAS! Have a HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here's how I load BPCR ammo on my D/550
Step 1-Size, prime and expand/flare case-mouth.
Step 2- off press -Charge cases with powder using drop-tube, and insert .060 veggie wad on top of charge.
Step 3-Compress powder, seat GG bullet and remove case-mouth flare.

RE: Here comes Santa Claus
My only problem with the Dillon is it won't clean the primer pocket and polish the brass before it loads it.........
