RE: It's done
Tungoil is not a problem sanding it in. The last one I had to take some wood off before the oil.
Bryers will make it tight getting back for Lodi.
Hey, I went through Lodi Ohio yesterday

RE: It's done
Howdy Kurt, Congrats on taking ownership of your new rifle. Glad to see the trip across Ohio had some benefit in $2 fuel. Right now there is a distraction going on at Camp Perry Ohio. It's the last of the international Long range and Palma competitions. I believe it will end this Friday. Of course them folks use smokeless so it might be bad gugu to watch paper punching at up to 1000 yds. More to BPCR liking there's Ridgeway in Northern Pa. and McDonald range to south for honest Silhouette aiming points. On the 12th not far north of route 6 in Gibsonburg we will be holding our 100 - 500 yds. Silhouette match. So there is ample opportunity to limber up your new rifle (if the oil finish is dry. You know only the first 3-4 coats of tung oil are needed to seal the wood. The other 10-12 coats rubbed in proper are for show There must be enough sun light, even in the forests, for a few pictures please post of your progress in wood work. Travel safe , RobertB Toledo,Ohio

RE: It's done
Hi Robert.
I took a different way back from Dingmans Ferry this time. I took 209 north to 6 and saw the sigh heading to McDonald. I like taking the two tracks to see what the country looks like. I don't drive the gypsy wagon more then 60 mph anyway most of the time.
To late to turn back, I'm to far west. I'm sitting in a State Park at Fayette Ohio and about to turn North and cross into the UP Mich. To see my old hunting partner at Dollar Bay Michigan.
I have 100 rounds for his rifle with me, but last night I tried to drop one in the chamber and it was to tight. It was about 3/8" from seating soI can lose the breach.
Have to wait till I get home o make a cast to see what is going on.
Used the same .44-75 reamer I used on the last rifle.

RE: It's done
Mike.
I think it's just that the chamber is tighter then the other one. I told them not to polish this chamber. I pushed a primed case in today and it was a hard push, but it seated just fine and I checked the firing pin strike to see if I was centered. All is well.
The cases and rounds I have with me were not sized after shooing them in the other rifle, but that rifle was chambered with the same reamer but it was lapped out. I have a matching sizing die reamer along with the camber reamer. So all is well.
Sitting in the Ottawa National Forest. I think I will foul the barrel cant weight.
