New 44-77 PP Mold

I haven't played with my sharps rifles in a while but having drawn a Wyoming moose tag this year I decided to draw up a bullet that might work with my 44-77 chamber (thanks Orville) with my batch of Jamison brass. It's a dual diameter tapered design that has an overall shape like an original round except for the small flat tip. It's listed under Accurate Molds as #44-410P. I wanted something that when wrapped with Baco 9# paper would fit nicely in unresized fired Jamison cases but still fit in the bore easily when fouled so I was shooting for a wrapped .444 base and a wrapped .436 portion that rides in the bore with a little wiggle room. I cast just a couple with some wrinkles to see how they fit in a fired case and they were snug near the top of the neck and slightly loose when pushed down halfway in the neck so they might be a tiny bit undersized, but getting it perfect is a luck of the draw. I think it should work. I was casting 50:1 but might try 30:1 to see if the diameter gets a smidge larger.

It will be a couple weeks before I can make up some loads and try them out. Hopefully I didn't waste $125 (approx) but I sure like Toms service and for the money it is a blast to be able to create something unique.

Hopefully it will shoot good enough for my general hunting needs (2" at 100). I'm not expecting super accuracy.
